Calgary Flames announce 2024 development camp roster and schedule

A mixture of the Calgary Flames’ top prospects, along with a sprinkling of invited players, will descend upon Winsport from July 4-6 for the club’s 2024 development camp. The club announced the camp’s roster and schedule on Tuesday afternoon.

The roster

38 players are attending camp: 6 goaltenders, 10 defencemen and 22 forwards.
Goaltenders:
  • Prospects: Yegor Yegorov
  • AHL contracts: Connor Murphy, Matt Radomsky
  • Invites: Zach Pelletier, Callum Tung, Ethan McCallum
Not attending, likely because of the logistics of getting to Calgary from Russia, is 2024 draft choice Kirill Zarubin, and 2021 pick Arsenii Sergeev, who’s transferring schools this summer to Penn State. 2023 pick Yegor Yegorov makes his first trek over for development camp, though.
Defencemen:
  • Prospects: Hunter Brzustewicz, Artem Grushnikov, Axel Hurtig, Eric Jamieson, Joni Jurmo, Henry Mews, Etienne Morin, Zayne Parekh
  • AHL contract: n/a
  • Invites: Isa Parekh, Hayden Hennen, Roman Topp, Evan Murr
Everybody you would expect to see at camp is attending, plus Zayne Parekh’s big brother.
Forwards:
  • Prospects: Luke Misa, Hunter Laing, Jacob Battaglia, William Strömgren, Jaden Lipinski, Lucas Ciona, Aydar Suniev, Trevor Hoskin, Matt Coronato, Sam Honzek, Sam Morton, Andrew Basha, Matvei Gridin, Cade Littler, Parker Bell
  • AHL contract: David Silye
  • Invites: Carter King, Luke McNamara, Trevor Janicke, Kaden Bohlsen
The forward group may be the most interesting mix of people to watch at this camp. Three first-rounders are in attendance – 2021’s Matt Coronato, 2023’s Sam Honzek and 2024’s Matvei Gridin – plus 2023-24 breakout prospect William Strömgren, plus some really fascinating youngsters like Luke Misa, Aydar Suniev and Andrew Basha. (And I’m leaving off names we’re excited to see at the camp because there’s too many to list.)

The schedule

The camp’s players will be split into two groups, Team Crisp and Team MacNeil. Here’s the on-ice component of things:
  • Thursday (July 4): MacNeil at 10:45 a.m., Crisp at noon
  • Friday (July 5): MacNeil at 10:45 a.m., Crisp at noon
  • Saturday (July 6): Both groups for a three-on-three scrimmage at 10:30 a.m.
