48 hours after a wild, dramatic comeback victory over an Original Six foe, the Calgary Flames (7-5-1, 15 points) will attempt to do it again when they face the Boston Bruins (6-7-1, 13 points). Both teams have won two of three games in November; which team can continue their momentum on Thursday night?
Tonight’s broadcast begins at 5 p.m. MT on Sportsnet’s national feed and Sportsnet 960 The Fan.
The Flames
Here are projected lines via Sportsnet’s Derek Wills:
Jonathan Huberdeau – Yegor Sharangovich – Martin Pospisil
Connor Zary – Nazem Kadri – Andrei Kuzmenko
Blake Coleman – Mikael Backlund – Matt Coronato
Ryan Lomberg – Kevin Rooney – Justin Kirkland

Based on Wills’ report from morning skate in Boston, we’re expecting Dustin Wolf to start in net, backed up by Dan Vladar. The projected extra skaters are Jake Bean and Joel Hanley. Anthony Mantha didn’t skate at Wednesday’s practice, per reports from our pals on the trip, and he’s not expected to be available to the Flames after leaving Tuesday’s game with a lower body injury.
We’ll say this for the 2024-25 Flames: they’re not boring. They’re a team that’s supposedly a bit lean on skill, but Matt Coronato flashed a bit of it with two superb goals that turned a potential regulation loss in Montreal into an overtime victory. The Flames are still a team that needs to rely on structure, speed and forechecking in order to be effective, but there may be a bit more offensive talent on display that originally anticipated.
Regardless, the Flames will need to produce another tight-checking road effort if they’re hoping to leave TD Garden with two points.
The Bruins
Projected lines via Daily Faceoff:
Tyler Johnson – Pavel Zacha – David Pastrnak
Brad Marchand – Elias Lindholm – Justin Brazeau
Cole Koepke – Charlie Coyle – Matthew Poitras
John Beecher – Mark Kastelic – Trent Frederic

Nikita Zadorov – Charlie McAvoy
Hampus Lindholm – Brandon Carlo
Parker Wotherspoon – Mason Lohrei

We’re projecting Joonas Korpisalo to start in goal, backed up by Jeremy Swayman. The projected extra is Morgan Geekie. Blueliner Andrew Peeke left Tuesday’s game against Toronto and isn’t expected to be available. The Bruins shuffled their lines around after their loss to Toronto.
It’s been a weird November for the Bruins, as part of kind of a weird season. They entered the season expected to be a powerhouse in the Eastern Conference, and they still might emerge as one, but they’ve started the season hanging around in the middle of the pack, wobbling around the .500 mark.
The Bruins were shut out by Toronto on Tuesday night, but their prior two games were shutout wins over Seattle and Philadelphia. With the Bs, you’re never quite sure what you’re going to get this season.
Unavailable players
The Flames are without Anthony Mantha.
The Bruins are without Andrew Peeke.
