After a pair of home losses, the Calgary Flames (26-21-7, 59 points) will try to get back into the win column in their final game before the 4 Nations Face-Off break when they tangle with the Seattle Kraken (23-29-4, 50 points). It’s the final game for both teams before the break, and it’s a rematch from a tight game at Climate Pledge Arena a week ago that the Flames won.
Tonight’s broadcast begins at 8 p.m. MT on CBC, Sportsnet’s national feed, City TV and Sportsnet 960 The Fan.

We’re projecting Dustin Wolf to make the start in net, backed up by Dan Vladar. The projected extras are Adam Klapka and Tyson Barrie. Per head coach Ryan Huska, Joel Hanley is unavailable tonight as he and his wife are about to welcome an addition to their family.
The Flames are 2-5-0 over their past seven games. Their wins came against Anaheim and Seattle; divisional foes, sure, but arguably lesser lights in the Western Conference. Their losses have come against Winnipeg, Washington, Detroit, Toronto and Colorado – five pretty good hockey teams. Our general philosophy around these parts is you’ve got to hold teams accountable to their wins: the Flames have shown themselves capable of beating pretty good hockey teams this season. They have just found ways to allow games to get away from them recently.
It goes without saying, but a definitive win over a divisional opponent would send them into the break on a positive note.
The Kraken
Projected lines via Daily Faceoff:
Jaden Schwartz – Matty Beniers – Kaapo Kakko
Eeli Tolvanen – Chandler Stephenson – Oliver Bjorkstrand
Jared McCann – Shane Wright – Andre Burakovsky

We’re projecting Joey Daccord to start in net, backed up by Ales Stezka. The Kraken have no healthy extras.
The Kraken have had a tough last little while. They’ve lost three in a row, and five of their last six games. They’re somewhat similar to the Flames on paper: they have an interesting mix of veterans and youngsters, and they also arguably lack high-end, game-breaking talent. The big difference is that the Flames have gotten timely goals and some really sharp goaltending, while the Kraken, well, haven’t. Not often enough, at least.
But as we saw in Seattle last week, the Kraken are far from an easy out.
Unavailable players
The Flames are without Anthony Mantha, Justin Kirkland, Connor Zary and Kevin Bahl.
The Kraken are without Jordan Eberle, Yanni Gourde and Ryker Evans.
