It’s the final back-to-back of the season, as the Calgary Flames (35-26-12, 82 points) head to Salt Lake City to visit the Utah Hockey CLub (33-29-12, 78 points). The Flames rallied back from a 2-0 deficit to beat Colorado in a shootout on Monday night. Can they kick off April with another big victory and inch closer to a potential playoff berth? If so, they’ll need to overcome an opponent that they have never beaten in the form of Utah HC.
Today’s broadcast begins at 7 p.m. MT on Sportsnet West and Sportsnet 960 The Fan.

We’re projecting Dustin Wolf to start in net, backed up by Dan Vladar. The projected extras look to be Daniil Miromanov and Dryden Hunt, but we’ll see if any changes are made at warm-up.
The Flames beat one of the NHL’s best teams on Monday night, and they did so without any points from the “usual suspects.” Instead, they got a pair of goals from their fourth line – sparked by a superb game by Adam Klapka – a shootout-winner from Yegor Sharangovich, who’s a couple games removed from being a healthy scratch. Suffice it to say, the Flames will need a little bit more from their aces if they want to inch closer to a playoff berth. They got a big game from the depth, but their big guns will have to get them to where they want to go.
The Flames begin Tuesday’s action five points behind St. Louis for the final Western Conference playoff spot… with two games in hand.

It’s just about the end of the line for Utah this season. They beat Chicago on Sunday, snapping a three game losing skid. They’re nine points back of the Blues for the last playoff spot, and they’re close to falling out of the race altogether. Simply put: if the Flames fancy themselves a playoff team, Utah is the type of team they need to be able to beat in this situation.
Unavailable players
The Flames are without Anthony Mantha, Justin Kirkland and Connor Zary.
Utah is without Olli Maatta, Connor Ingram and Liam O’Brien.
