With less than a week left to finalize their opening night roster, the Calgary Flames bring their sparkling pre-season record to Manitoba for a clash with the Winnipeg Jets.
The Jets will be dressing a pretty NHL-heavy roster, while the Flames have a group with a distinctly Wranglers feel to it. Can some faces on the roster fringe get themselves onto the opening 23-man group with a strong outing? Or are they destined for the AHL before the weekend’s end?
This game kicks off at 6 p.m. MT and broadcast on the Flames’ site and has a radio call from Sportsnet 960 The Fan!

The Flames

Here’s the group that’s headed to Winnipeg:
  • Goaltenders Dustin Wolf and Devin Cooley
  • Defencemen Kevin Bahl, Tyson Barrie, Jake Bean, Jarred Tinordi, Jonathan Aspirot, Hunter Brzustewicz and Daniil Miromanov
  • Forwards Dryden Hunt, Kevin Rooney, Jakob Pelletier, Matt Coronato, Anthony Mantha, Adam Klapka, Sam Morton, Connor Zary, Justin Kirkland, Clark Bishop, Walker Duehr, Cole Schwindt and Martin Frk
Here’s who’s not going to Winnipeg:
  • Goaltender Dan Vladar
  • Defencemen MacKenzie Weegar, Rasmus Andersson, Joel Hanley, Brayden Pachal and Ilya Solovyov
  • Forwards Jonathan Huberdeau, Nazem Kadri, Andrei Kuzmenko, Yegor Sharangovich, Mikael Backlund, Blake Coleman, Martin Pospisil, Ryan Lomberg and Sam Honzek

Per Sportsnet’s Pat Steinberg, Dustin Wolf is expected to start in net. This is probably the last chance for the bubble players to make an impression before cuts.
