Calgary Flames Game Day: A Monday visit from the Kraken (7pm MT)

Photo credit: © Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports
The Calgary Flames begin a busy, important week at the Saddledome on Monday evening when they host the Seattle Kraken in exhibition action. The red team plays three pre-season games this week and need to get their roster down to the mandated 23-man maximum by next Monday. They have some tough decisions to make and they’ll need to make them within the next seven days.
This game kicks off at 7 p.m. MT and broadcast on the Flames’ site and has a radio call from Sportsnet 960 The Fan!

Dan Vladar starts in net, backed up by Devin Cooley. Per head coach Ryan Huska, the plan is for Vladar to go the distance in net. Jake Bean and Anthony Mantha skated with the game group but it doesn’t look like they’ll play.
For those curious, Kevin Bahl and Martin Pospisil both skated with the non-game group. The hope is that the Flames can work Bean and Bahl into the two remaining games against Winnipeg; Bean has played one pre-season game, while Bahl has yet to dress for any.
The auditions continue for some younger players. Sam Honzek gets a plum assignment on the de facto top line, while we see Jakob Pelletier, Matt Coronato, Sam Morton, Adam Klapka and Ilya Solovyov get chances to show their quality at home. Depending on how they perform, this may be their last taste of pre-season action.
