Calgary Flames Game Day: Kicking off the pre-season in the Emerald City (8pm MT)

Photo credit: Steven Bisig-USA TODAY Sports
Last weekend, the Calgary Flames’ youngsters played three games in Penticton. Now, with the veterans in the fold, things ramp up a bit as the 2024-25 exhibition calendar for the Flames kicks off tonight at Climate Pledge Arena as they visit the Seattle Kraken.
A fairly youthful Flames lineup faces what’s likely to be a pretty veteran-heavy Kraken, as is tradition for early pre-season road dates, and we’ll see what information we can all glean from it.
The puck drops at 8 p.m. MT and you can catch the action streamed on the Flames website or listen live on Sportsnet 960 The Fan!
The Flames
Here’s who’s making the trip to Seattle tonight, per the club.
- Goaltenders Dustin Wolf and Connor Murphy
- Defencemen Artem Grushnikov, Jake Bean, Hunter Brzustewicz, Jeremie Poirier, Zayne Parekh and Brayden Pachal
- Forwards Dryden Hunt, Jakob Pelletier, Kevin Rooney, Matt Coronato, Samuel Honzek, Adam Klapka, Sam Morton, Matvei Gridin, Hunter Laing, Clark Bishop, William Stromgren, Cole Schwindt and Martin Frk
Per Sportsnet’s Pat Steinberg, Wolf starts in net. The Flames didn’t do line rushes in morning skate, so we’ll wait until warm-up to determine lines.
It’s a first chance for pre-season action for 2024 first rounders Parekh and Gridin, who both impressed in Penticton. We’ll see how they look against a more seasoned Kraken group.
