The Labour Day weekend is behind us and the hockey world is starting to ramp up for training camps and the upcoming season. Ahead of prospects training camp kicking off later this week, the Calgary Flames announced four new hockey operations hires on Tuesday morning.

The Flames have added the following individuals to new gigs:

Warsylewicz’s name might ring a bell for hardcore sports fans. He’s a former elite-level speed skater, who represented Canada at the 2006 Winter Olympics and captured a silver medal in team pursuit. Following his skating career, he’s gotten into being a high-end team member off the ice as a massage therapist. He’s been part of the support staff for Canada’s entries at the 2022 Summer Olympics and the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Antone joins the Flames after four seasons with the American Hockey League’s Bridgeport Islanders as their video coordinator. He was also on the staff of the University of Minnesota Duluth’s men’s team as a student operations assistant from 2017-20, winning a pair of NCAA national championships.

Nickel has served as the Flames’ and Wranglers’ practice and emergency backup goaltender for the past few seasons. With the new NHL rules mandating every club have their own EBUG, who will travel with the team full-time, Nickel’s part-time gig has become permanent.

Seymour has a pretty impressive resume, with a playing career that included NCAA hockey with Northern Michigan University (serving as captain in his senior year), and professional stints in the ECHL, Finland’s Liiga, Sweden’s Allsvenskan, Germany, Switzerland and Denmark. He’s also served as a coach and skills consultant in the WHL, SJHL and PWHPA. He’s been part of several Flames development camps in recent years as a consultant, so the club is familiar with his work.

The Flames begin prospects training camp later this week, with main camp opening next week.
