One of the Calgary Flames most promising goaltending prospects was honoured by his conference for the second consecutive week. One week after splitting the award, University of Connecticut Huskies sophomore netminder Arsenii Sergeev has been named Hockey East&#8217;s goaltender of the week.

Sergeev was a seventh round pick by the Flames back in the 2021 NHL Draft after a strong season with the North American Hockey League&#8217;s Shreveport Mudbugs. He spent 2021-22 with the United States Hockey League&#8217;s Tri-City Storm, where he was named the league&#8217;s top goaltender. He joined the University of Connecticut as a freshman last season.
Sergeev began this season in a tandem with senior Ethan Haider, with the duo effectively splitting starts 50/50. In November Sergeev had some challenging outings, including allowing four goals against Merrimack and getting pulled after two periods. Since then, the Huskies really leaned on Haider, and Haider responded with some really strong play.
Sergeev returned to the Huskies net last Saturday against Maine and made 27 saves in a shutout. He played again on Sunday against New Hampshire, and had a shutout bid going for over 53 minutes. He ended up making 42 saves in a 2-1 win.
His season hasn&#8217;t been all smooth sailing, but whatever work Sergeev did on his game over the last few months has started to pay off in spades. Through eight appearances this season, he has a 4-4-0 record with a 2.22 goals against average, .925 save percentage and one shutout.
The Huskies are back in action this coming weekend as they take part in the CT Ice tournament; they face Sacred Heart on Friday and either Yale or Quinnipiac on Saturday.
