A Calgary Flames prospect has made a little history in the Ontario Hockey League. On the heels of a season that saw him generate a ton of offence, Kitchener Rangers blueliner Hunter Brzustewicz has been named the inaugural recipient of the OHL&#8217;s Ted Baker Teammate of the Year Award.
The OHL announced the honour via press release on Thursday. Brzustewicz will receive that award officially at the OHL&#8217;s awards ceremony on Wednesday in Toronto. Per the league, the OHL&#8217;s Teammate of the Year Award is &#8220;presented to the player deemed the best teammate based off selfless play, on and off-ice leadership as a mentor and role model to other players, as well as a commitment and dedication to his team.&#8221;
It&#8217;s yet another award in a long line of them for Brzustewicz this season.
Selected in the third round by the Vancouver Canucks in 2023, Brzustewicz&#8217;s rights moved to the Flames via the Elias Lindholm trade. He signed an entry-level contract with the Flames in March. He ended up posting 13 goals and 79 assists for 92 points over 67 games during the 2023-24 season.
To summarize Brzustewicz&#8217;s 2023-24 honours:

All-in-all, not a bad season for Brzustewicz. He&#8217;ll likely move onto the professional ranks in 2024-25, as he plays the first year of his entry-level deal with the Flames – probably with the American Hockey League&#8217;s Calgary Wranglers.
