3 Flames prospects are near the top of their leagues in scoring
Photo credit: Rob Rasmussen / Quinnipiac Athletics
Pals, while the Calgary Flames are starting to find their footing in the National Hockey League after a rough start, many of their prospects are performing really well.
How well, you ask?
Three prospects are around the league lead in scoring in three separate levels of hockey.
Over in Russia, 2026 second-round pick Alan Shaikhlislamov was tied for the league lead in goals and points in Russia’s Molodezhnaya Khokkeinaya Liga, the top level of junior hockey in that country. But he was called up to the Kontinental Hockey League to provide some injury insurance for Salavat Yulaev Ufa after they were down to 12 healthy forwards. While he’s been gone, he’s slipped out of the outright lead but is still a stone’s throw from top spot.
In college, reigning NCAA leading scorer Ethan Wyttenbach – a 2025 fifth-round selection – is among the country’s leading scorers again. He’s nothing if not consistent. He’s regularly rattling off multi-point efforts, despite the coaching staffs of every other team telling their players “Don’t let #19 get the puck!”
And we’ve discussed Spokane Chiefs captain Chase Harrington, a 2026 second-round pick, quite a lot already. And it’s because he’s been a force to be reckoned with in the Western League so far, also ranking among the top offensive players in that circuit, too.
(We also will toast Ben Jones and William Stromgren, who are both representing the Wranglers well within the top 20 of American Hockey League scoring.)
Onto your stats updates!
