Flames Prospects Game Day: A day trip to Edmonton (7pm MT, Flames.com)

Gang, it’s time to watch some hockey.
Sure, it’s “only” a prospects training camp clash, but it’s the Calgary Flames facing the Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Place. The Flames are sending some of their best and brightest prospects, while the Oilers, who are in a different mode as a hockey club, will counter with a pretty interesting mix of their own.
The festivities kick off at 7 p.m. MT! You can catch the game streamed on the Flames website and on the radio on Sportsnet 960 The Fan!
The Flames
The Flames’ young’uns will be coached by new Wranglers bench boss Brent Sutter, and they hit the ice for the first time as a group on Thursday at Winsport.
Here’s lines for tonight via Pat Steinberg! (Thanks, Pat!)

By process of elimination, the extras appear to be Jordan Switzer, Colton Alain, Eduard Bondar and Mael Lavigne.
Man, we’re pretty fascinated to see how the likes of Hurtig and Phillips will look in this sort of environment. But given the depth of the Flames’ prospect group right now, there’s a ton of interesting stories to follow along the way.
The Oilers
Via Bob Stauffer and Tony Brar, projected lines for tonight:
Isaac Howard – Josh Samanski – Matthew Savoie
Rhett Pitlick – Viljami Marjala – Quinn Hutson
Connor Clattenburg – Matt Copponi – Tommy Lafreniere
Brady Stonehouse – David Lewandowski – James Stefan

The projected extras are Connor Ungar, Josh Banini, Hyde Davidson, Andrew O’Neill and William Nicholl.
In addition to the two players that could push for NHL gigs this fall in Howard and Savoie, keep an eye on the Oilers’ summer signings out of Europe, Marjala and Samanski. Based on their high-end pro experience, it’s not unfair to expect them to stand out a bit in this type of early camp game environment.
Stay tuned to FlamesNation for pre and post-game coverage of all the prospect training camp games!
