Guess who’s back! The Calgary Flames have recalled forward Walker Duehr from the American Hockey League’s Calgary Wranglers. Duehr cleared waivers and was assigned to the Wranglers back on Jan. 18.
Duehr spent a week in the AHL. He played two games and registered an assist playing primarily with Emilio Pettersen and Clark Bishop. Prior to this week, Duehr had spent the entirety of the season on the Flames’ active roster, posting one goal and four points over 19 games. (He was primarily their 13th forward, though.)
At time of the call-up announcement from the Flames, they had Adam Ruzicka and Nick DeSimone on waivers. Calling up Duehr gives them, at the very least, a 13th forward on their current roster to provide a bit of buffer in case Ruzicka is claimed on waivers or somebody gets banged up in morning skate or warm-up.
For the time being, the Flames’ active roster is at 23 players: two goaltenders, seven defencemen and 14 forwards – including Ruzicka and DeSimone.
The Flames host the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday night.
