The Calgary Flames unveiled their 2024-25 regular season schedule on Tuesday as part of the league-wide announcement.
The Flames, as per usual, will play 82 games – 41 at the Saddledome and 41 in other arenas in other cities.
Here’s the breakdown of the schedule overall:
Within the Pacific Division:
- 4 games (2 home, 2 away) against Anaheim, San Jose, Seattle, Vancouver and Vegas
- 3 games (2 home, 1 away) against Los Angeles
- 3 games (1 home, 2 away) against Edmonton
Within the Central Division:
- 3 games (2 home, 1 away) against Chicago, Nashville, Minnesota and Colorado
- 3 games (1 home, 2 away) against Winnipeg, St. Louis, Utah and Dallas
Within the Eastern Conference
- 2 games (1 home, 1 away) against everybody
So… the Flames play as many Battles of Alberta as they do games against Utah. That’s odd. Their games with Edmonton are Oct. 13 and Mar. 29 in Edmonton, and Nov. 3 in Calgary.
The All-Star Break – for the NHL’s 4 Nations Face-Off tournament this year – is Feb. 9-22.
There are five prominent home dates where beloved former Flames return to town:
- Nov. 1: Jacob Markstrom (New Jersey)
- Dec. 3: Sean Monahan & Johnny Gaudreau (Columbus)
- Dec. 14: Sam Bennett & Matthew Tkachuk (Florida)
- Dec. 17: Nikita Zadorov (Boston)
- Jan. 28: Andrew Mangiapane (Washington)
- Feb. 4: Chris Tanev (Toronto)
- Feb. 23: Tyler Toffoli (San Jose)
The longest homestand of the season is five games, from Dec 12-21, with the Flames hosting Tampa Bay, Florida, Boston, Ottawa and Chicago.
The longest road trip of the season is six games, from Feb. 25-Mar. 6, with the Flames visiting Washington, Tampa Bay, Florida, Carolina, Philadelphia and Dallas.
The Flames will play in 11 back-to-back sets, all involving travel.
If you’re a fan looking for “fun” trip ideas for road games:
- The Flames play in Vegas on Oct. 28 and Dec. 29.
- The Flames visit Utah for the first time on Oct. 30. (They visit again on Apr. 1.)
- The Flames visit Montreal on Nov. 5.
- The Flames visit Nashville on Dec. 10.
- The California trip is in January, with Anaheim on Jan. 7 and Los Angeles on Jan. 8. (And there are two non game days before and after that back-to-back.)
- The New York trip is in March, with the Rangers on Mar. 18, the Devils on Mar. 20 and the Islanders on Mar. 22.
