After a rude welcome from Edmonton on Wednesday night, the Calgary Flames (5-7-0, 10 points) return home to the Scotiabank Saddledome to welcome back a new friend, the Seattle Kraken (8-4-1, 17 points) for their third meeting of the season – yes, already – and the final Seattle game at the Saddledome. Can the Flames finally conquer the Kraken?

Today’s broadcast begins at 6 p.m. MT on Sportsnet West and QR Calgary! Tune in for Warmies before the game and After Burner following the game on the Barn Burner YouTube channel!

Projected lines via Daily Faceoff:

Aydar Suniev – Morgan Frost – Yegor Sharangovich
Joel Farabee – Mikael Backlund – Matt Coronato
Matvei Gridin – Martin Pospisil – Ryan Strome
Maxim Tsyplakov – Jonathan Castagna – Adam Klapka

Kevin Bahl – Simon Nemec
Jake Middleton – Zach Whitecloud
Yan Kuznetsov – Zayne Parekh

Dustin Wolf is expected to start in net for the Flames, backed up by rookie Arsenii Sergeev. The expected extras are Joel Hanley and William Strömgren. Aside from Tsyplakov slotting in for Brennan Othmann, we’re not expecting much in the way of changes.

On one hand, the Flames were shut out in Edmonton on Wednesday, and things didn’t go their way. On the other hand, they played a couple pretty good periods of hockey, not scoring notwithstanding, and they’re still in the midst of some pretty strong play. We’re curious to see how the group adjusts to being back home and facing a team in Seattle that is, all due respect, not as scary an opponent as the Oilers are.

Projected lines via Daily Faceoff:

Bobby McMann – Matty Beniers – Jordan Eberle
Chandler Stephenson – Frederick Gaudreau – Mackie Samoskevich
Kaapo Kakko – Berkly Catton – Shane Wright
Ben Meyers – Ryan Winterton – Jani Nyman

Vince Dunn – Adam Larsson
Ryker Evans – Brandon Montour
Josh Mahura – Cale Fleury

We’re projecting Philipp Grubauer to start in net, backed up by Joey Daccord. The projected extras are Curtis Douglas and Ville Ottavainen.

The Kraken are in the middle of a really nice start. They’re scrappy, deep, and they’ve gotten some nice contributions from up and down their lineup. They beat Toronto dramatically at home on Wednesday night, and they come to Calgary looking to clinch the season series and feeling quite good about themselves.

The Flames are without Jonathan Huberdeau, Sam Honzek, Devin Cooley and Brennan Othmann.

The Kraken are without Jared McCann, Jacob Melanson and Ryan Lindgren.

This is the third of four meetings between these clubs. The Kraken already have a pair of 6-1 wins under the belts from the first week of the season. These clubs will meet again next week in Seattle to conclude their season series.
