Outside of the home opener, there are a few interesting match-ups that come along with these theme nights.
The Hockey Fights Cancer game is always a big hit in every NHL community. One of the best teams in the Eastern Conference coming into town to play the Flames, putting the Calgary young guns to the test in front of the home crowd, should be a fun matchup.
The Pacific Division match-up for the Indigenous Celebration Night between the Flames and the Kings will also be an exciting game with the result being important for both teams. Also, as an aside, so many of these nights are going to have some great warmup jerseys, and this night is one of them.
The same can be said for the Lunar New Year Celebration against the Ducks, both with the jerseys and the matchup. So many young players will be dressed for that game, especially for Anaheim.
All of these nights are important to the communities that are represented. The commemorative jerseys will be well-designed, sold at auction, and help different charities and causes. It’s going to be an exciting year of hockey, and the theme nights for the Flames are a great way to unite all communities under one Calgary Flames umbrella.
