Calgary Flames to have PlayAlberta ad on their home jerseys as part of new partnership

A couple seasons ago, the National Hockey League gave the thumbs-up to allow its teams to wear advertisements on their game jerseys. For the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons, the Calgary Flames didn’t have any agreements to display any ads on their jerseys. However, that will change for the 2024-25 season, as the Flames announced on Friday morning an agreement with PlayAlberta.
Under the agreement, the Flames will have the GameSense logo on their home helmets and the PlayAlberta logo on their home jerseys. The CFL’s Calgary Stampeders, AHL’s Calgary Wranglers and NLL’s Calgary Roughnecks will also integrate the PlayAlberta logo on their home jerseys as part of this agreement.
The deal expands a previous partnership between the Flames and PlayAlberta, where the PlayAlberta logo was on their home helmets during the 2023-24 season. The club has worn the Telus logo on their road helmets for the past three seasons and previously wore the ScotiaBank logo on their home and road helmets during the COVID-shortened 2020-21 season. No announcements have been made, yet, regarding ad placements on their road helmets or jerseys for the 2024-25 season.
The Flames announcement follows a similar announcement made by the Edmonton Oilers back on Sept. 9, where it was revealed that the Oilers will also wear the GameSense logo on their home helmets and the PlayAlberta logo on their home jerseys.
The agreement makes Play Alberta the exclusive sports betting and online gaming partner of the Flames, Wranglers, Stampeders and Roughnecks. Through the partnership, Play Alberta and CSEC will develop unique partnerships and in-arena giveaways during the season.
The Flames begin their pre-season schedule on Sunday in Seattle.
