After three wins in three outings at the Scotiabank Saddledome, the Calgary Flames (4-6-0, 8 points) will look to sweep their homestand on Monday night. But they’ll face a pretty big challenge in the form of the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs (7-4-2, 16 points), who are on a winning streak of their own and looking for a win in their final visit to the Saddledome. Which streak will end? Find out at the ‘Dome, a half-hour earlier than usual!
Today’s broadcast begins at 6:30 p.m. MT on Sportsnet+ (it’s exclusively a streaming game) and QR Calgary! Tune in for Warmies before the game and After Burner following the game on the Barn Burner YouTube channel!

The Flames

Projected lines via Daily Faceoff:
Aydar Suniev – Morgan Frost – Yegor Sharangovich
Joel Farabee – Mikael Backlund – Matt Coronato
Matvei Gridin – Martin Pospisil – Ryan Strome
Brennan Othmann – Jonathan Castagna – Adam Klapka
Kevin Bahl – Simon Nemec
Jake Middleton – Zach Whitecloud
Yan Kuznetsov – Zayne Parekh
Devin Cooley is slated to start in net for the fourth straight game, backed up by Dustin Wolf. The healthy scratches look to be Joel Hanley, Ben Jones and Maxim Tsyplakov. Mikael Backlund is back after missing two games with a minor upper body injury.
The Flames are on a pretty good run of play right now, having won three straight and four of their last five. They haven’t changed a ton of what they were doing earlier in the season, but the group has seemingly started to click into place and everyone’s finding their roles. During the first three or four games, the Flames had big gaps and made big mistakes. More recently, those mistakes less frequent and less glaring, and they’ve been able to overcome them.

The Maple Leafs

Projected lines via Daily Faceoff:
Easton Cowan – Auston Matthews – Jack Roslovic
Kirill Marchenko – Nick Paul – William Nylander
Gavin McKenna – Colton Sissons – Vinni Lettieri
Brandon Duhaime – Teddy Blueger – Zach MacEwen
Jake McCabe – Darren Raddysh
Morgan Reilly – Troy Stecher
Dakota Mermis – Oliver Ekman-Larsson
We’re expecting the Leafs to keep their goaltender rotation going, with Sergei Bobrovsky starting in net, backed up by Anthony Stolarz. Their expected healthy extras are Bo Groulx and Cole McWard.
The Leafs have won four games in a row, including a 7-2 thrashing of the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday night. They’re not a perfect hockey club, but new head coach Jim Hiller has them playing some smart hockey, and they have the firepower in their lineup to out-score most mistakes they can make. They’re emerging as one of the league’s stronger teams early this season.
