After triumphing in Orange County, the Calgary Flames (1-5-0, 2 points) look to continuing their winning ways when they go to where the house always wins, Vegas, to face the Vegas Golden Knights (6-2-0, 12 points). The Flames and Vegas are both coming off wins on Tuesday. We’ll see who can keep the good times rolling on the Strip on Thursday evening.
Today’s broadcast begins at 8 p.m. MT on Sportsnet One and QR Calgary! Tune in for Warmies before the game and After Burner following the game on the Barn Burner YouTube channel!

The Flames

Projected lines via Daily Faceoff:
Aydar Suniev – Morgan Frost – Matt Coronato
Yegor Sharangovich – Mikael Backlund – Joel Farabee
Matvei Gridin – Ryan Strome – Maxim Tsyplakov
Jonathan Castagna – Martin Pospisil – Adam Klapka
Kevin Bahl – Simon Nemec
Jake Middleton – Zayne Parekh
Yan Kuznetsov – Zach Whitecloud
We’re projecting Dustin Wolf to start in net for the third consecutive game, backed up by Devin Cooley. The Flames’ extras look to be Joel Hanley and Brennan Othmann. They’re running the same lineup that played two pretty dang good games against Anaheim, and won their first game of the season back on Tuesday in Orange County.
The Flames finally won a game on Tuesday, getting a reward for their gradually improving play. They got some timely saves from Wolf, timely goals from folks like Aydar Suniev and Martin Pospisil, and generally got the bounces that they hadn’t gotten earlier on this season. They also avoided making the proverbial “big mistake,” and when they had challenges, they didn’t let them snowball. We’ll see if they can continue their good run of play in Las Vegas.
The Flames have lost their last four visits to T-Mobile Arena. Overall, they’re 2-11-2 in 15 games in Vegas since they entered the league, including losing their first eight trips to the Strip.

The Golden Knights

Projected lines via Daily Faceoff:
Ivan Barbashev – Jack Eichel – Mark Stone
Brett Howden – William Karlsson – Mitch Marner
Trevor Connelly – Tomas Hertl – Raphael Lavoie
Braeden Bowman – Nic Dowd – Marc Gatcomb
Brayden McNabb – Shea Theodore
Noah Hanifin – Dylan Coghlan
Jeremy Lauzon – Rasmus Andersson
We’re projecting Adin Hill to start in net after winning on Tuesday, backed up by Carter Hart. Currently, Vegas has no healthy extras. (They brought up Ville Heinola from the AHL to be an extra for their recent road trip and sent him back on Wednesday, so we’ll see if he comes back up for this game.)
Vegas is off to a good start, once again. They beat Nashville by a 5-2 score on Tuesday. Now they’re back at home, and looking to continue what’s been a pretty impressive run of success at home dating back years. The last time Vegas hosted the Flames, they had that weird, awkward ice delay. Hopefully that can be avoided this time.

Unavailable players

The Flames are without Jonathan Huberdeau and Sam Honzek.
The Golden Knights are without Parker Wotherspoon and Victor Olofsson.
