Calgary Flames goaltending prospect Yegor Yegorov will be coming to North America next year.
Yegorov, 2o, has committed to the Miami University RedHawks for the 2026-27 season. The 6’3″, 192-pound goaltender posted a 13-17-6 record, one shutout, and a .918 save percentage in 38 games with Russian junior club MHK Spartak Moskva in 2025-26.
The Flames originally selected the 2005-born goaltender in the sixth round (No. 176 overall) of the 2023 NHL Draft. As a prospect drafted out of Russia, Yegorov’s rights will remain with the Flames in perpetuity until he signs an entry-level contract.
Yegorov is the second Russian goalie in the Flames’ system to commit to crossing the pond in recent weeks; in mid-May, the Flames signed Kirill Zarubin, one of their third-round picks in 2024, to a three-year, entry-level deal.
While Zarubin is expected to join the AHL’s Calgary Wranglers or ECHL’s Rapid City Rush next season, Yegorov will begin his North American journey at the collegiate level with Miami (which is in Ohio). However, it remains to be seen how much playing time Yegorov will receive as a freshman, particularly after 22-year-old Mateo Drobac played in all but one of Miami’s games in 2025-26.
This will not be Yegorov’s first trip to North America. The Moscow product previously attended the Flames’ annual prospect development camp in 2024 and 2025 (wearing No. 81 at the latter), and could do so again this coming July.
In three drafts under current general manager Craig Conroy, the Flames have selected two goaltenders — both from Russia. In fact, since the club drafted Dustin Wolf with their final pick in 2019, they’ve drafted four consecutive Russian goaltenders: Daniil Chechelev, Arsenii Sergeev, Yegorov, and Zarubin.
The Flames currently have four goaltenders signed to NHL contracts for the 2026-27 season: Wolf, Devin Cooley, Zarubin, and Sergeev. Additionally, Owen Say is a pending RFA who could still be tendered a qualifying offer. At the same time, Ivan Prosvetov seems to be poised to leave the organisation as an unrestricted free agent.
