The Calgary Tower will be lit up in blue and orange on Monday, but they want to make it extremely clear exactly why that is. And also explain precisely what it does not represent. 
The tower in Calgary will show the blue and orange colors on June 10 to raise awareness for Action Anxiety Day in Canada. According to the <a href="https://novascotia.cmha.ca/on-june-10-is-action-anxiety-day/#:~:text=June%2010%2C%202024%2C,importance%20of%20prioritizing%20mental%20health.">Canadian Mental Health Association: &#8216;</a>a national awareness and education day led by Anxiety Canada to help people learn about anxiety, reduce stigma, raise awareness, dispel common anxiety myths and underscore the importance of prioritizing mental health.’ 
While Calgary made clear the cause they were supporting, they also made it known what they were not: their division rivals in the 2024 Stanley Cup Final. 
Blue and orange also happen to be the primary colors of the Calgary Flames’ Pacific Division rival, the Edmonton Oilers. Edmonton will play Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final on Monday in Sunrise, Florida. They trail the Panthers 1-0 in the series. 
The Final is a unique time for all 30 NHL teams not involved. But this year is especially an odd one for the other five Canadian National Hockey League teams and their fans. 
The Flames, Winnipeg Jets, Vancouver Canucks, Ottawa Senators, Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs have to make a choice. Do they root for the Oilers to win the first Stanley Cup for Canada in 21 years? It has been a long time since Montreal won it all in 1993. Or, do they stick with their hometown team and even go as far as to root against Edmonton as their national rivals?

It’s a tough decision. But one that the Calgary Tower has made clear it has already made. And from the final comments of their social media post: ‘No, never,’ it seems that they did not need to think it over for very long.
