The Calgary Wranglers are headed south to start another lengthy road trip of five games. It starts this weekend against the Colorado Eagles for a back to back on Friday and Saturday. Both dropped their last games and are looking to get back in the win column. The Eagles sit above the Wranglers in the standings as well, sitting at third and Calgary sitting at fifth. A sweep this weekend for the Flames’ affiliate would put them ahead of Colorado once again.

Notes and expectations

The Wranglers last played on Halloween last Saturday and split that weekend series against the Laval Rocket. The Eagles just played a mid-week game on Wednesday against Coachella Valley and fell 2-1. Both the Eagles and Wranglers skated with 11 forwards and seven defencemen in their last games so we will see if that carries into this weekend at all.
Since the Wranglers’ last game, they’ve had a couple of roster moves. Most recently was the return of Arsenii Sergeev on Thursday. He was assigned back to the Wranglers just in time to join the team on the road and is expected to start one of these games. The Wranglers also did a swap with their ECHL team. They sent Alex Campbell back down and recalled forward Ryan Hofer instead. Campbell played in two games and if Hofer slots into the lineup this weekend, he will be wearing number 25. William Stromgren remains up with the Flames and put up his first NHL goal on Monday’s game against the San Jose Sharks that ended up being the game-winner.
The Eagles have already announced that their Saturday night game is a sellout so there will be quite an opposing crowd to hype up their home team. The Eagles fanbase is usually a pretty loud one so the Wranglers are likely already expecting a pretty lively building. These two have not faced each other yet this year but the Eagles had the edge on the season series last year, going 5-2-1-0 against the Wranglers.
This series kicks off on Friday for an 8:05 p.m. ABT start time and continues into Saturday for an hour earlier puck drop of 7:05 p.m. ABT. Both games will be available on the Wranglers radio broadcast on the team’s website and social media and streamed for a fee on AHLtv on Flo Hockey. Daily Faceoff contributors, Ryan Pike and I will have updates on X (formerly Twitter).
