The Calgary Wranglers kicked off their season on Friday night on the road against the Manitoba Moose. As they took the ice, they also revealed their lettered players for the upcoming season. Two of three should not come as a surprise, but a new face has joined the leadership group this season. Brett Sutter returned as captain, Nick DeSimone will reprise his role as alternate captain and Clark Bishop has joined DeSimone as the other alternate captain.
Brett Sutter remains the only Captain in the Wranglers’ short history and played in 70 games last season. In that time, he put up 29 points. Nick DeSimone played in 65 games last season and put up 46 points. Clark Bishop played in 64 games and put up 23 points.
Bishop takes Matthew Phillips’ “A” after Phillips signed with Washington and cracked the Capitals opening night roster. Clark Bishop nicely compliments the more mature leadership group and has a Calder Cup win on his hockey resume that further supports the decision to add him to the official Wranglers leaders.
The Wranglers won their first game of the regular season 4-2 on Friday night and will play next on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. MT against the Manitoba Moose.
