Notes and expectations
Both sides of this competition had NHL transactions since their last games. The projected lineups showed the lines in their last games but now will miss a few skaters. For the Wranglers, Adam Klapka joined the team for their weekend against the Barracuda but then was called back up to Calgary on Tuesday.
For the Gulls, the Anaheim Ducks recalled forward Sam Colangelo and Tyson Hinds on Sunday. Jansen Harkins was already up with the big club so that already takes away their two current top scorers. Colangelo scored once in both of their last meetings in late October and Hinds scored once in their game on October 29th. Harkins had assists in both games so this takes off three skaters from their scouting report for this game.
The Wranglers were right back to their 11 forwards and seven defensemen lineup last weekend and that kicked out Parker Bell and Martin Frk from the lineup. If Frk is still healthy, he could easily slot in for Klapka’s spot and Bell could get a game in on Wednesday or later this week on the fourth line if they go back to 12 forwards. In the last game, Sam Honzek mostly picked up the extra shift on the fourth line. For the defenders, they continue to have a rotating system with Jarred Tinordi and Jeremie Poirier rotating through the pairings.
A rising performer to keep an eye on in this game is David Silye. Silye has been building confidence in the last couple of weeks and is earning himself a more consistent spot. He had four assists on the season going into last weekend then scored his first AHL goal on November 16th with an empty netter. That helped carry him into Sunday where he scored his first manned-net goal and assisted on Adam Klapka’s goal in the third period. We will see if this burst of scoring drives some success into this week.
This game starts at 8:00 p.m. MT and will be streamed on Flo Hockey for a fee. You can also follow along on X (formerly Twitter) where multiple FlamesNation contributors will have updates.
