Notes and expectations
This game is expected to be a special one for two players in particular. One on each side. Henry and Hunter Brzustewicz. Henry, who is two years younger than Hunter, is playing his first year in pro hockey and this is the first time the two of them are matched up against each other in their professional careers. Just a one game stop this time around before they play a two game series in late November.
Hunter is determined to win this one, as Henry has a leg up on him from a junior series he beat him in when Henry was with the London Knights and Hunter was with the Kitchener Rangers. Hunter’s team, the Rangers, were swept 4-0 in the OHL Western Conference Semifinal series and that’s not something he has forgotten. Hunter said prior to leaving for this road trip:
“I was one the phone with him yesterday. We talked about it a little bit and we have a couple of days down there, so I’d like to get to see him. Meet up for dinner or something but on that day, it’s, I don’t know, I just want to beat my little brother. That’s all it is. I can’t let him have all the wins sometimes.”
Henry is also a right shot defenceman and isn’t quite a regular on the Reign yet with three games played so far of a possible five Ontario has played. In a scenario like this, I don’t imagine he gets scratched for a game he and his brother have probably had on their calendar ever since the schedule was released. As far as the pre-game skate goes, Hunter wasn’t too sure what that would look like just yet and while they’ll probably pose for a picture or have a little conversation at centre ice, he didn’t have anything specific in mind.
On paper, the Wranglers should win this game and Hunter should be the “winning” Brzustewicz brother as it stands, but Henry’s going to for sure be kicking his game into another gear for this competition. It’s worth noting that the Wranglers will be without a big piece: leading scorer Ben Jones, who was called up to the NHL on Tuesday morning.
The Wranglers go into this game 5-2-0-0 on the season and the Reign are 3-2-0-0 on the season. This game gets started on Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. MT. Streaming options are available on AHLtv on Flo Hockey and radio coverage is available on the Wranglers website and social media for Wranglers radio.
