The Calgary Wranglers are off to a good start this season and embark on a six game road trip over the next two weeks. In their opening homestand, they went 3-1-0-0 and just only picked up their first loss on Sunday. For this road trip, there haven’t been any roster changes so the Wranglers are carrying their regulars, Connor Zary and Brayden Pachal as newcomers. Out of the two most recent PTO adds, Nikita Pavlychev has been skating in warm-ups but hasn’t skated in a game just yet and there haven’t been signs of Derek Forbort just yet.

Notes and expectations
At the four game mark, the Wranglers look like an improved team. With the roster turnover they had over the off-season, they still retained their top scorers and this season so far, they haven’t been the ones to lead the way in points and they haven’t had to be. Sam Morton and Rory Kerins got their first goals in their last game against Bakersfield and Dryden Hunt and William Stromgren are on the board with assists but still look for their first goals of the season. Hunt and Stromgren still land in the top five for scorers but the top three are all new players to the team this year.
Scoring has been a strength for Calgary this year with three of the four opening games having multi-goal nights for a single player. Jonathan Castagna in the first game, Axel Hurtig in the second and Ben Jones in the third. This series should give more chances for that to shine as the Barracuda are 1-3-0-0 so far and have given up 20 goals in those four games.
This series starts with a rare early afternoon weekday game on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. MT then wraps up with an evening match-up on Friday at 8:00 p.m. MT. Game streams are available on AHLtv on Flo Hockey for a fee and Daily Faceoff Calgary contributors Ryan Pike and I will have updates on X (formerly Twitter).
