The National Hockey League’s annual outdoor games mean fancy jerseys, fancy gear and usually fancy goalie masks. The Calgary Flames revealed the Heritage Classic lids for David Rittich and Cam Talbot on their official Twitter account on Monday.
Painted by Swedish painter David Gunnarsson, the masks lean heavily intro the retro theme of the even and embrace the white, red and orange colour scheme of the Flames’ retro jerseys. Talbot’s mask is more plain than we’re used to seeing with them – there are no Ghostbusters ghosts around – but Rittich managed to sneak in his traditional Bart Simpson appearance on the side of his mask.
The 2019 Heritage Classic goes this Saturday in scenic Regina, Saskatchewan.
