Some injury news from Calgary Flames rookie camp, friends, as one of the club’s top prospects will be briefly sidelined.
Forward Connor Zary, who left Monday’s rookie game against the Edmonton Oilers after blocking a shot, is out day-to-day per the club.
Zary left the game in the first period after blocking a shot off the lower part of his left leg. He did not return.
Zary, 19, was the Flames first round selection in the 2020 NHL Draft. He’s expected to turn pro this season after an impressive major junior career with the Western Hockey League’s Kamloops Blazers.
Main training camp opens on Wednesday (for medicals) and Thursday (for on-ice sessions), with the NHL’s roster deadline falling on Oct. 11.
