The Calgary Flames will be looking to establish a three-game winning streak on Friday night when they host the Arizona Coyotes as -145 favourites on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Calgary opened a crucial five-game homestand with a 3-2 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday to keep their grasp on third place in the Pacific Division standings going into Friday night’s matchup at Scotiabank Saddledome.
Coyotes at Flames | OddsShark Matchup Report
Despite a recent steady stretch that has seen them go 8-3-1 over their past 12 contests, capped by Wednesday’s victory as -180 chalk, the Flames enter the weekend far from assured of a playoff spot. Calgary remains just three points up on the Coyotes and the Vancouver Canucks in a tight race for third place in the divisional standings. However, the team enjoys a favourable schedule down the stretch that sees them play 10 of their final 14 regular-season contests on home ice.
Unfortunately, home ice has been far from kind to the Flames this season. The team has posted just five wins in its past 16 home contests, according to the OddsShark NHL Database, erasing the benefit of a strong start to the campaign when they posted wins in 10 of their first 15 dates at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
Despite their recent struggle to compile points, the Flames have shown signs of regaining their offensive touch on home ice, potting 18 total goals over their past five games, and scoring four or more goals in five of their past 11 outings. That has contributed to steady winnings for those taking the OVER at sports betting sites, which has gone 10-4-0 over Calgary’s past 14 home dates.
However, the Flames can ill afford to look past the Coyotes, who arrive in Calgary as +125 underdogs. Arizona kicked off its current three-game Canadian swing with a 4-2 win in Vancouver as a -105 bet on Wednesday to improve to 3-1-0 in the team’s past four outings.
A strong 9-2-3 run on home ice has helped keep the Coyotes in the playoff hunt in the Western Conference, but wins have been rare on the road, where they have claimed victory in just three of 15 outings since December. The Coyotes have also endured a lengthy struggle against the Flames, losing in 12 of 17 overall meetings since March 2016, including six of their past eight visits to Calgary.
