Some unfortunate injury news has been announced in regards to one high-profile Calgary Flames prospect.

Kelowna Rockets forward Dillon Dube, a second round selection of the Flames in June’s entry draft, has been replaced on Team WHL’s roster for next week’s Canada/Russia Series games in Prince George and Edmonton. Dube was originally named to the WHL’s roster for the event without having played a single WHL game this season due to a lower-body injury, but it now appears that he won’t be healthy enough to play.

Dube, 18, has been nursing a lower-body injury since being returned to the Rockets from Flames main camp. He has yet to play in the regular season for the Rockets after playing two WHL preseason games and one NHL preseason contest, and he’s been listed as “week-to-week” on the WHL’s injury report for the past five weeks.

The expectation is he should be ready to return to action soon, just not soon enough to play for Team WHL.
