In another sign that the 2020-21 training camp is getting closer, two Calgary Flames prospects playing in Europe ended their loans on Thursday.

Goaltender Artyom Zagidulin has departed from the KHL’s Metallurg Magnitigorsk, while forward Eetu Tuulola is leaving SM-Liiga’s SaiPa. Tuulola was previously with Vasterviks IK in Sweden prior to moving to the Finnish club.

Zagidulin, 25, returned to his hometown team for a couple months. When he arrived Metallurg was missing a pair of their regular goaltenders and Zagidulin got some time to knock the rust off, but eventually everyone got healthy and he was stuck behind Juho Olkinuora and Vasili Koshechkin and only occasionally dressed as back-up. In five games with Magnitigorsk, he posted a 4.24 goals against average and .869 save percentage.

Tuulola, 22, joined SaiPa in November after his loan with Vasterviks IK ended. He had zero points in four games in Finland and four points in 11 games in Sweden. He played on the right side in both team’s top six and his lack of production in Finland was more of a product of him not getting the bounces than him never having the puck or not playing well.

With these loans ending, the lone Flames property still on temporary loan in Europe is Martin Pospisil, who’s currently with HC Kosice of Slovakia’s Tipsport Liga.
