The Calgary Flames have found their backup goalie.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Flames traded a 2022 third-round draft pick to the Boston Bruins in exchange for 23-year-old goaltender Dan Vladar. Both clubs announced the deal on their respective Twitter accounts.
Vladar (6โ5โณ, 185 pounds) has two seasons remaining on his contract at a $750,000 AAV. He appeared in his first five regular season games with the Bruins last season, posting a 2-2-1 record along with an .886 save percentage.
In 2019โ20, Vladar led the entire American Hockey League with a .936 save percentage and a 1.79 goals against average in 25 games with the Providence Bruins. He posted a .923 save percentage and a 3-4-4 record in 10 games with Providence in 2020โ21.
Boston originally selected the Praha product in the third round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
