It’s hockey time!
The Calgary Flames announced their rookie camp roster and schedule on Tuesday, effectively kicking off the hockey season! The centrepiece of rookie camp is the club’s participation in the Young Stars Classic tournament in Penticton, B.C. over this coming weekend.
The Flames invited 27 players to camp, with the players not coming being Europeans who have already started their seasons, collegiate players already back at school, and BCHLer Cade Littler, who’s going to college in 2023-24 and presumably his absence has something to do with (a) maintaining NCAA eligibility and/or (b) getting him set for the BCHL season.
But the Flames are bringing some studs to the Okanagan, including 2019 first-rounder Jakob Pelletier, 2020 first-rounder Connor Zary, and AHL star goaltender Dustin Wolf.
