Flames at World Juniors quarterfinals: everyone advances!
After a busy Saturday of competitive games at the World Juniors, all four Calgary Flames prospects remain active and can win medals at the event.
Russia 2, Germany 1
Russia scored twice and then hung on as Germany pressed late but couldn’t tie things up.
Yan Kuznetsov had one shot in 14:44 of ice time. He was fifth among Russian defenders in usage.
Canada 3, Czech Republic 0
Canada scored early and then hung on for dear life as the Czechs pressed. But the Czechs couldn’t solve Devon Levi, who hasn’t allowed an even strength goal in the entire tournament thus far.
Connor Zary played 13:15, ninth among forwards. Jakob Pelletier was plus-1 with one shot in 15:54, fifth among forwards.
United States 5, Slovakia 2
The Americans scored early and then kept scoring when the Slovakians pressed late. Spencer Knight started and Dustin Wolf gave him moral support from the bench.
