As expected, the Calgary Flames have swung the axe as they prepare for tonight’s game with the Vancouver Canucks – and the club hitting the half-way mark in their pre-season schedule.
The team announced today the assignments of seven players to the AHL’s Stockton Heat: forwards Austin Carroll, Mitchell Heard, Ryan Lomberg, Louick Marcotte and Hunter Smith, blueliner Aaron Johnson, and goalie Kent Simpson. In addition, they’ve released Douglas Murray from his try-out and assigned Nick Schneider back to the WHL’s Medicine Hat Tigers.
