After avoiding it for much of the season, the Calgary Flames appear to have finally been directly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The club announced Friday morning that they have canceled their morning skate prior to their game against Montreal due to a positive COVID-19 test among their players.
Here’s the release:
The Calgary Flames will not hold a morning skate today as a precaution due to one positive player test from yesterday’s COVID-19 testing. The player is in isolation and all other staff/players have tested negative.Tonight’s game between Calgary and the Montreal Canadiens is scheduled for 7:00 PM MT.
The Flames have had several games rescheduled due to positive tests for the Canadiens and the Vancouver Canucks in recent weeks, but have until now avoided any cases on their own roster. Their luck has seemingly run out.
The player’s identity was not released by the club, per league policy, but will be included in the NHL’s list of players unavailable due to COVID-19 protocols later Friday afternoon.
Josh Leivo (CGY) has been added to the NHL's COVID Protocol list. The @NHLFlames announced tonight's game against Montreal will be played.
