A bit of Calgary Flames news to start off the week. Flames leading scorer Johnny Gaudreau has been named the NHL’s third star of the week for his performances over the past seven days.
Gaudreau played four games:
- On Jan. 24, he had a goal and three assists in Calgary’s win over St. Louis.
- On Jan. 26, he had three assists in Calgary’s win over Columbus.
- On Jan. 27, he was pointless in Calgary’s loss to St. Louis.
- On Jan. 29, he had the only goal in Calgary’s overtime win over Vancouver.
Gaudreau enters this week tied with Minnesota’s Kiril Kaprizov at 52 points for seventh in league scoring. He’s the league leader in five-on-five primary points and one of the most consistent offensive players in the NHL this season. He holds the Flames lead in points, with an eight point edge over Matthew Tkachuk.
The Flames, and Gaudreau, are back in action on Tuesday night in Dallas against the Stars.
