Two days after snapping their lengthy road losing skid, the Calgary Flames (14-10-5, 33 points) return home to the Scotiabank Saddledome for one of their three final visits from a old foe, the Tampa Bay Lightning (14-10-2, 30 points). Can the Flames keep their home ice success rolling along?
Tonight’s broadcast begins at 7 p.m. MT on Sportsnet One and Sportsnet 960 The Fan.

The Flames

Projected lines via Sportsnet’s Pat Steinberg:
Jonathan Huberdeau – Nazem Kadri – Martin Pospisil
Blake Coleman – Connor Zary – Andrei Kuzmenko
Yegor Sharangovich – Mikael Backlund – Matt Coronato
Ryan Lomberg – Kevin Rooney – Walker Duehr
Kevin Bahl – Rasmus Andersson
MacKenzie Weegar – Daniil Miromanov
Jake Bean – Brayden Pachal
Based on morning skate, we’re projecting Dan Vladar to start in net, backed up by Dustin Wolf. It’s back-to-back starts for Vladar, and five of the team’s last six games for him between the pipes as well. The projected extras are Jakob Pelletier, Joel Hanley and Tyson Barrie.
Through 29 games, the Flames are not a perfect hockey club. They have some issues, particularly with their inconsistency on the road. But they’re a team that works hard and when they play within their team structure, they can be a really tough night at the office. They’re no offensive juggernaut, and the adjustments they’ve made to their power power units have them puttering along at a 30.6% clip since mid-November.
The Flames’ last regulation loss at home was on Nov. 3 against Edmonton. Facing a former Stanley Cup Final opponent in the Lightning, they’re hoping they can extend their streak of effective play and favourable results under the ‘Dome’s iconic roof.

The Lightning

Projected lines via Daily Faceoff:
Jake Guentzel – Brayden Point – Nikita Kucherov
Brandon Hagel – Nick Paul – Mitchell Chaffee
Gage Goncalves – Conor Geekie – Cam Atkinson
Zemgus Girgensons – Luke Glendening – Michael Eyssimont
Victor Hedman – Taylor Raddysh
Ryan McDonagh – J.J. Moser
Emil Lilleberg – Nick Perbix
We’re projecting Andrei Vasilevskiy to start in goal, backed up by Jonas Johansson. Their projected extra is Steven Santini.
This is the third game of a four game western trip for the Lightning. They beat Vancouver by a 4-2 score before narrowly losing to Edmonton 2-1 a couple nights ago. They’ll finish things off against Seattle before heading home.
Oddly enough, despite being a perpetual Eastern Conference power, the Lightning have not had a ton of recent success in Calgary. They’ve lost each of their last three visits to the Saddledome, and their last win here was in 2018.

Unavailable players

The Flames are without Anthony Mantha and Justin Kirkland.
The Lightning are without Erik Cernak and Anthony Cirelli.
