After an eventful weekend, the Calgary Flames (21-23-4, 46 points) continue their five game homestand and kick off a new week on Monday evening when they welcome the New Jersey Devils (24-22-2, 50 points) to town. Neither team has been on a tear of late, with both dealing with lulls in their game since 2026 began. Which team can find their swagger again and grab two points?
Today’s broadcast begins at 7 p.m. MT on Sportsnet West and Sportsnet 960 The Fan.

The Flames

Projected lines via Daily Faceoff:
Connor Zary – Nazem Kadri – Matvei Gridin
Jonathan Huberdeau – Morgan Frost – Joel Farabee
Yegor Sharangovich – Mikael Backlund – Matt Coronato
Ryan Lomberg – Justin Kirkland – Adam Klapka
Yan Kuznetsov – MacKenzie Weegar
Kevin Bahl – Zach Whitecloud*
Joel Hanley – Hunter Brzustewicz
Via Sportsnet’s Pat Steinberg, we’re projecting Devin Cooley to start in net, backed up by Dustin Wolf. The projected extra skaters for the Flames look to be Dryden Hunt and Brayden Pachal. According to the Flames website, Zach Whitecloud is flying out of Vegas on Monday morning. We’re guessing he slots into the lineup, but if he doesn’t then obviously there will be some shuffling around as the Flames ease into life without Rasmus Andersson.
The Flames are coming off a win over the Islanders on Saturday night. The Flames have won three of their eight games in January, and those three outings were arguably the ones where they were best able to impose themselves on their opposition. They know how they need to play and when they can find their pace and structure, they can be a tough out. When they do that and get some goals, they can win some games.

The Devils

Projected lines via Daily Faceoff (and Amanda Stein):
Timo Meier – Jack Hughes – Jesper Bratt
Ondrej Palat – Nico Hischier – Dawson Mercer
Evgenii Dadonov – Paul Cotter – Connor Brown
Arseny Gritsyuk – Cody Glass – Connor Brown
Paul Cotter – Luke Glendening – Lenni Hameenaho
Luke Hughes – Brett Pesce
Jonas Siegenthaler – Dougie Hamilton
Brenden Dillon – Simon Nemec
We’re projecting Jacob Markstrom to start in net, backed up by Jake Allen. The projected extras are Juho Lammikko, Johnathan Kovacevic and Luke Glendening.
The Devils dropped their last game to Carolina on Saturday. Like the Flames, they’ve won just three times in January. The Devils aren’t a bad team, but they’ve been frustratingly inconsistent this year. They’ve been quite strong at times, but they also managed to lose to the Islanders by a 9-0 score, too. You can never be sure which Devils will show up, and that’s arguably the challenge when preparing to face them.

Unavailable players

The Flames are without Martin Pospisil, Sam Honzek, Jake Bean, John Beecher, Zayne Parekh and Blake Coleman.
