Flames Game Day 77: Messing with Texas (6pm MT, SNW)

After a road win in Orange County on Saturday night, the Calgary Flames (32-36-8, 72 points) continue their six game road trip in scenic Texas when they visit the Dallas Stars (45-20-12, 102 points). Neither team has a ton on the line; the Flames are playing out the string, while the Stars are hoping to get healthy in time for the post-season. Which team will be sharp enough to get two points?
Today’s broadcast begins at 6 p.m. MT on Sportsnet West and Sportsnet 960 The Fan.
The Flames
Projected lines via Daily Faceoff:

We’re projecting Devin Cooley to start in net, backed up by Dustin Wolf. The projected healthy extras for Calgary look like Brayden Pachal, Tyson Gross, Ryan Lomberg, Connor Zary and Victor Olofsson. Aydar Suniev looks to make his second NHL appearance of his career, and first of this season.
The Flames had a heck of a homestand, going 5-0-1. Since then, they’ve played three times on the road, and gone 1-2-0. Their team losses involved a walloping at the hands of the Colorado Avalanche and a tight game that got away from them in Vegas. But they were generally quite good for two periods against Anaheim and held on for the win. They have a tough schedule from here on out, but they’re also a team that’s determined to be a tough out, if nothing else.
The Stars
Projected lines via Daily Faceoff:
Jason Robertson -Wyatt Johnston – Mikko Rantanen
Jamie Benn – Matt Duchene – Colin Blackwell
Oskar Back – Justin Hryckowian – Mavrik Bourque
Adam Erne – Arttu Hyry

We’re projecting Jake Oettinger to start in net, backed up by Casey DeSmith. The projected extras are Kyle Capobianco, Alexander Petrovia and Cameron Hughes, as Dallas is slated to go with 11 forwards and 7 defenders. Per reports from Monday’s Stars’ practice (via DLLS Sports’ Sam Nestler), no Radek Faksa but Tyler Myers is expected to return from injury.
The Stars have lost three of their last four games. Their last outing was a 2-0 shutout loss to Colorado on Saturday. They likely won’t be able to catch Colorado for top spot in the Central Division, so they’re left to jostle with Minnesota for home ice in their inevitable first round series. Even though they’re missing a slew of key players, the Stars are a really formidable team.
Unavailable players
The Flames are without Sam Honzek, Jake Bean, Jonathan Huberdeau and Joel Hanley.
The Stars are without Tyler Seguin, Roope Hintz, Sam Steel, Nathan Bastian, Michael Bunting and Radek Faksa.
