Mired in a seven game winless streak, the Calgary Flames (1-6-1, 3 points) will attempt to get back into the good books when they rematch against a team they played a pretty strong games against on Monday in the form of the Winnipeg Jets (5-2-0, 10 points).
The Jets hosted the Seattle Kraken on Thursday evening (and lost 3-0), while the Flames practised and travelled on Thursday. Can the Flames take advantage of what is, in theory, a scheduled win against a fatigued opponent?
Today’s broadcast begins at 6 p.m. MT on Sportsnet Flames and Sportsnet 960 The Fan. Game 1 of the World Series between the Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers will be on the main Sportsnet channels, if that’s your thing.

The Flames

Projected lines via Daily Faceoff (with some added guesswork based on projected scratches):
Jonathan Huberdeau – Nazem Kadri – Joel Farabee
Blake Coleman – Mikael Backlund – Matt Coronato
Sam Honzek – Morgan Frost – Yegor Sharangovich
Ryan Lomberg – Connor Zary – Adam Klapka
Kevin Bahl – Rasmus Andersson
Jake Bean – MacKenzie Weegar
Joel Hanley – Zayne Parekh
Dustin Wolf is projected to start in net, backed up by Devin Cooley. Based on reports from the rink from Sportsnet’s Derek Wills, the expected extras for this evening look to be Brayden Pachal, Dryden Hunt and Justin Kirkland. We’ll see how lines look at warm-up.
The Flames have scored two goals or fewer in each of their last seven games. It’s no coincidence that they’ve lost all of those games. As such, the Flames would benefit from scoring more than two goals, because they’ll probably get good enough goaltending to have a chance to win a game.
And the Flames would very much like to win a game, and then see where things go from there.

The Jets

Thursday’s lines via Daily Faceoff:
Kyle Connor – Mark Scheifele – Gabriel Vilardi
Nino Niederreiter – Jonathan Toews – Gustav Nyquist
Alex Iafallo – Vladislav Namestnikov – Brad Lambert
Cole Koepke – Morgan Barron – Tanner Pearson
Josh Morrissey – Dylan DeMelo
Logan Stanley – Neal Pionk
Haydn Fleury – Luke Schenn
We’re projecting Eric Comrie in net, backed up by Connor Hellebuyck, who faced the Kraken on Thursday. Thursday’s extras were Parker Ford, Nikita Chibrikov and Colin Miller, so we’ll see if the Jets mix things up on the back half of their back-to-back.
The Jets were shut out by Seattle on Thursday night. They were decent enough, but a bit slower and flatter than usual – and they had trouble with Seattle’s speed. The Flames played a strong game against the Jets on Monday night, so we’ll see if they can replicate that outing against a team that will be sour about the loss to Seattle.

Unavailable players

The Flames are without Martin Pospisil.
