Flames Game Day: That’s it, back to Abbotsford! (8pm MT, Flames.com)

After an epic pre-season clash with the Seattle Kraken on home ice on Tuesday evening, the Calgary Flames are taking their show on the road. And they’re facing a familiar for, the Vancouver Canucks, in a familiar place, Abbotsford, British Columbia, the former home of the American League’s Heat from yesteryear.
Expect a youthful Flames group lean on NHL experience, but full of pep and a desire to prove themselves on the road.
Things get going just after 8 p.m. MT, streaming on the Flames website and over the airwaves on Sportsnet 960 The Fan!
The Flames
Here’s the listed travelling roster, per the Flames:
- Forwards: Basha, Bishop, Farabee, Honzek, Hunt, Kerins, King, Laing, Morton, Pospisil, Suniev, Zary, Gallant, Silye and Wilkie
- Defencemen: Bean, Brzustewicz, Grushnikov, Hanley, Miromanov, Morin, Poirier and Mack
Per Sportsnet 960’s Pat Steinberg, Ivan Prosvetov starts in net and Devin Cooley backs up. He also noted that Grushnikov, Mack, Gallant, Silye and Wilkie skated late during morning skate at Winsport, so those look to be the likely scratches.
Sometimes we see players suit up for pre-season games on back-to-back nights to test them out, and we saw Honzek, Kerins, Morton, Zary and Brzustewicz on Tuesday night at home… so we’ll see who also dresses against the Canucks. (Per Steinberg, Kerins looks to be playing in Abbotsford.)
With more potential roster cuts coming up as the start of Calgary Wranglers camp approaches, it’ll be interesting how some fringe players do with what could be their only chance in the pre-season.
