Flames Game Day: The penultimate pre-season clash against the Canucks (7pm MT, SN360)

Folks, we’re into the final games of the final season of the marathon pre-season schedule! And with two games to go, the Calgary Flames have some decisions to make as they welcome the Vancouver Canucks to town.
Who’s the backup goaltender? We’re not sure yet. Who will fill out the blueline? We don’t know. Who will centre the fourth line? They’re figuring that out. It should all, hopefully, lead to a pair of reasonably compelling evenings of hockey at the ‘Dome this week.
Things get going just after 7 p.m. MT; this one won’t be streamed, but the Vancouver broadcast crew will have it on Sportsnet 360… and if you’d prefer a Calgary flavour, Sportsnet 960 The Fan has the radio call.

Ivan Prosvetov is slated to start in net, and will be relieved by Devin Cooley midway through. It’s the final audition to determine who starts the season as Dustin Wolf’s back-up.
We’re fascinated to see how the players pushing for jobs look when playing against a pretty NHL-ready Canucks lineup. Most notably, 2024 first-rounders Matvei Gridin and Zayne Parekh.

It’s looking like Kevin Lankinen starts in net, backed up by Nikita Tolopilo. A line and a pairing won’t be dressing, but we’re not sure quite yet which ones.
Keep an eye on Braeden Cootes, if he’s playing, because man he’s been fantastic for the Canucks in camp despite being a very young person.
