Flames open 2018-19 regular season on October 3

In advance of the annual unveiling of the entire regular season calendar, the National Hockey League and its clubs have announced the 31 home openers. The Calgary Flames factor into three of those dates, with their regular season schedule beginning on Oct. 3.
The Flames will begin their season on the road on Wed., Oct. 3 against the Vancouver Canucks. They’ll be opening their home schedule at the Saddledome on Sat., Oct. 6 against the Canucks – it’s presumably the late game on Hockey Night in Canada at 8 p.m. MT, so hopefully there will be fun and revelry outside to lead up to the game. And they’ll be featured in Nashville’s home opener on Tues., Oct. 9.
The Flames’ entire 82-game schedule will be announced by the league tomorrow at 3 p.m. MT. Since the season begins on Oct. 3, the NHL’s annual roster deadline (by which clubs need to be down to a cap-compliant 23 bodies) will be Tues., Oct. 2 at 3 p.m. MT.
