Defenseman Matt Taormina has been placed on waivers by the Calgary Flames for reassignment to the Stockton Heat. He was previously on the season-opening injured reserve but presumably is now healthy enough to head to the American Hockey League.
Taormina was acquired in tandem with Rinat Valiev from the Montreal Canadiens in a trade that saw Brett Kulak go the other way.
The Heat will be looking forward to Taormina’s arrival. At 31 years old, he’s a tenured veteran that has flourished in the AHL. With Rasmus Andersson called up to the Flames in the meantime, Taormina’s presence should definitely contribute to team’s offensive totals.
