The Calgary Flames have gained some roster flexibility. On Thursday, they placed forward Dryden Hunt and Walker Duehr and blueliner Jarred Tinordi on the waiver wire. On Friday, per Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, the trio cleared waivers.
Per the Flames, all three have been assigned to the American Hockey League’s Calgary Wranglers.
With a few short days remaining until Monday’s roster deadline, here’s how the Flames’ roster situation looks:
Goaltenders
The Flames will carry two or three goaltenders. They presently have three in camp.
- Dan Vladar and Devin Cooley require waivers
- Dustin Wolf is waiver exempt.
Depending on which goaltenders they’re keeping, the Flames would potentially need to put someone (Cooley) on waivers.
Defencemen
The Flames will likely carry seven defencemen. They presently have eight in camp.
- MacKenzie Weegar, Kevin Bahl, Jake Bean, Daniil Miromanov, Joel Hanley, Rasmus Andersson, Brayden Pachal and Tyson Barrie require waivers.
The Flames would need to put a defenceman on waivers to get down to seven defenders.
Forwards
The Flames will carry 13 or 14 forwards. They presently have 16 in camp.
- Jonathan Huberdeau, Nazem Kadri, Andrei Kuzmenko, Yegor Sharangovich, Mikael Backlund, Blake Coleman, Martin Pospisil, Connor Zary, Anthony Mantha, Ryan Lomberg, Kevin Rooney, Jakob Pelletier and Cole Schwindt require waivers.
- Matt Coronato, Sam Honzek and Adam Klapka are waiver exempt.
Depending on which players they’re keeping, the Flames may need to put a forward (or multiple forwards) on waivers.
The Flames have to submit a salary cap compliant roster of between 20-23 players to the NHL’s central registry by 3 p.m. MT on Monday.
