The Calgary Flames have reportedly finalized their first move of the free agency frenzy. They’ve reportedly re-signed forward Buddy Robinson to a one year, one-way deal worth the league minimum salary of $700,000.
Robinson, 29, has been perfectly acceptable depth for the Flames over the past two seasons. Primarily an AHL body, he was a nice compliment to the young kids the organization had down there. It seems likely he’s ear-marked for the AHL roster once again, but he’s proven that he can be a rock-solid NHL fill-in in a pinch.
Robinson went to high school with Flames star winger Johnny Gaudreau and is from the scenic state of New Jersey. He had one goal in five NHL games for Calgary in 2019-20, and 18 goals and 32 points in 45 games with Stockton.
