Flames recall Alexander Yelesin from Stockton

In advance of their final road trip prior to the All-Star Break, the Calgary Flames have made a roster move. They’re recalled defenseman Alexander Yelesin from the Stockton Heat of the American Hockey League.
Yelesin, 23, is in his first year of North American hockey after spending his career in Russia. In 29 games for Stockton he has one goal and three assists. This move uses up the last open Flames roster spot – they’re carrying two goalies, eight defensemen and 13 forwards. Yelesin was recalled earlier this season and was a healthy scratch for five games.
We’re not sure if there’s a particular player that’s hurt or ill, but given that the Flames are also carrying Michael Stone it seems probable that they have a couple banged-up players on their blueline and just want some insurance for the road trip.
