Flames recall Andrew Mangiapane from Stockton

Ladies and gentlemen, the Calgary Flames have (finally) summoned arguably their best offensively-minded prospect from the farm. The club has officially recalled winger Andrew Mangiapane from the American Hockey League’s Stockton Heat.
To free up a roster spot, as expected, the Flames have placed Michael Frolik on the injured reserve.
A sixth round selection in a 2015 NHL Draft class that’s looking pretty good right now – Rasmus Andersson and Oliver Kylington are other products from that draft – Mangiapane, 21, has been really, really good in the AHL after a stellar run in the Ontario Hockey League. He had back-to-back 100 point seasons with the Barrie Colts.
Skeptics probably went, “Yeah sure, Bryan Cameron was a good smaller offensive guy in the OHL and he amounted to nothing in the pros.” But Mangiapane has been good and consistent (and consistently good) with Stockton, even when recalls took away his center (Mark Jankowski) and his winger (Garnet Hathaway). In 98 AHL games, he has 34 goals and 74 points. This is his first call-up to the NHL.
For those of you running out to get jerseys, he wore 88 in training camp.
