The Calgary Flames have made some roster moves at training camp. The club has officially assigned goalie Garret Sparks, defenseman Colton Poolman and forwards Eetu Tuulola and Luke Philp to Stockton of the AHL.
The moves opened up camp spots to allow Oliver Kylington to join camp on Saturday (he took Tuulola’s place) and Dustin Wolf, Jakob Pelletier and Connor Zary to join potentially on Sunday. 41 players remain active in camp: five goalies, 12 defensemen and 24 forwards.
Sparks is on a PTO and seems like a contender to take Tyler Parsons’ gig (temporarily) in Stockton while Parsons recovers from ankle surgery.
Poolman, Philp and Tuulola are all young pros – Poolman entering his first AHL season, Philp and Tuulola their second – and they all need some seasoning before they’ll be knocking on the door for NHL games.
